SENSING
Simplified
Whole Home Monitoring
Our Ting sensing technology measures electromagnetic data 27 million times per second through one smart plug-like device to detect micro-arcs and sparks that could be happening in any part of the home. The data is compressed and transmitted via Wi-Fi to the Whisker Labs cloud where data science and machine learning analyze and monitor for potential fire hazards. Data can also be used to assess power quality. Ting plugs into any outlet in the home and pairs to WiFi via a simple DIY app install.
Ting-protected homes together provide a network effect that monitors the grid in great detail, providing a signal-dense view of the grid not possible through other traditional technologies, and helping protect communities in the broader battle against wildfires.
An enterprise Dashboard displays home-specific data for fleet and risk management. Learn more about how Ting works here.
FIRE HAZARD DETECTION
Tiny Signals,
Big Data,
Meaningful Alerts
The main cause of electrical fires is tiny arcs and sparks that develop in damaged house wiring, electrical cords, and faulty appliances. Ting plugs into any outlet to measure the home’s electromagnetic data at high speeds, looking for sparks and “arc faults” that occur when insulation wears out on electrical cords or wires corrode from age, bending, or heat stress.
Ting works by monitoring electrical signals flowing throughout your electrical network and isolating unique, random impulses created by hazardous arcing, while ignoring other forms of normal electrical ‘noise’ and ‘man-made’ arcing such as that from dimmers, motors, and switches. This same capability allows Tings across a community to isolate fault conditions on the local grid.
